A performance where the Icelandic pancake tradition and “women’s work” are intertwined. The pancakes
are used as a material for various activities, such as wiping and scrubbing, folding, mending and even
relaxing with a face mask.
A very thin round shape, fragrance fills the space, hands move in repetition,
Measure, stir, pour.
A smooth and thin mixture, scooped over a hot surface covered in butter. It slowly browns and carries
with it this beautiful scent that evokes feelings and memories of habits, of good times. The act lives in the
body.
Measure, stir, pour, bake, turn.
In the repetition, a certain stillness is created, a dialogue between hand movements. The ceremony is a
pattern, fragile and temporary, but unites people through taste, memory and shared experiences.
Measure, stir, pour, bake, turn, serve.

An installation showing remains of the performance will be on display in Gerðarsafn from 29th of
August to 4th.
About the artists:
Gréta Jónsdóttir (1998) is an Icelandic visual artist. working across a variety of media. Her artistic
practice explores themes of relationships, memory, emotions, body image, and human connection. Her
works often revolve around self-reflection and the processing of attitudes and ideas, frequently engaging
audiences in ways that allow the personal and the collective to intersect.
Heiðrún Sæmundsdóttir (1994) is an Icelandic artist. Her work exists somewhere between fine art and
crafts, mixing unconventional materials and old handicraft methods such as knitting, crochet, embroidery
and weaving. In this way, she creates works that deal with personal issues that are strongly connected to
feminist ideology.
Gréta and Heiðrún got their Masters in Art Education from Iceland University of the Arts in 2026, where
they met and started working together. This is their first performance as a duo.
