GETA | Love Your Neighbour | Rainy Siagian

Gerðarsafn Art Museum

Love Your Neighbour is a communal embroidery work of Rainy Siagian’s in which participants gather around a shared table to stitch together while sharing conversations about home — what it means, how it feels to move, what it means to leave, and how a new one can be created.

Through the process of making together, the work encourages openness, attentive listening, and the sharing of personal experiences. Love Your Neighbour becomes a space for people to connect and to get to know one another, their “neighbour” in the broadest sense.

Rainy Siagian (b. 1994) is an artist and researcher, born in Indonesia and raised in Belgium. Her work stems from a deep interest in the theoretical, physical, ideological, political, and critical dimensions of space. She views space as a subjectivity in flux — a necessity for functioning in society, and a process of becoming.

Siagian draws on the methodology of nomadic theory, often exploring questions of belonging. Her practice spans a range of media, including text, photography, spatial interventions, and food. Through these approaches, she explores and questions how we perceive and relate to the spaces we inhabit.

She lives and works between Brussels and Reykjavík.
