Welcome to the workshop Looking at, Thinking about, and Writing on Art with Jón Proppé on Thursday, April 30, from 18:00–21:00.
In this workshop, Jón will explore different approaches to analyzing and writing about visual art. Participants will look at artworks from various perspectives, and explore what it means to interpret a work and communicate it effectively in speech or writing. The workshop is in Icelandic.
Those interested are asked to send an email to gerdarsafn@kopavogur.is and will receive preparatory material as the workshop approaches.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have been introduced to a range of methods for writing about art and will gain tools that can be used in their own independent work.
Jón Proppé is an art philosopher, teacher, and curator who has written numerous books and articles on art. He has also taught and mentored art and art theory students for decades at the Iceland University of the Arts, the School of Photography, the Film School, and elsewhere.
