You are warmly welcome to a family event with Þykjó the 28th of february at Gerðarsafn. The workshop is suitable for participants from 4 years old… all the way up to at least 104!
We drift into the hypnotic journey of the wool thread as it winds up and down through the weave.
The textile is colourful and the textures of the material are varied.
Little by little, a playful pattern and rhythm begins to form.
The event is held in connection with the exhibition Hörður which is ideal to visit for inspiration.
The design team ÞYKJÓ leads the workshop; they have gained recognition both in Iceland and abroad for their ambitious design projects for children.
About ÞYKJÓ:
ÞYKJÓ is an interdisciplinary design studio that works for and with children and their families. Their projects are diverse, spanning product design, experience design, installations, and participatory projects. Their design work aims to stimulate children’s imagination and creativity through free play. Among the group’s projects are Hljóðhimna in Harpa, the furniture line Kyrrðarrými, and the Tulipopland playground at Keflavík Airport. ÞYKJÓ has received numerous awards and recognitions for their work, including the Icelandic Design Awards 2024, SVEF Awards 2021, and the YAM Awards 2023.
