Ger\u00f0ur Helgad\u00f3ttir was a prolific artist and a pioneer in three-dimensional abstract art in Iceland. Ger\u00f0ur challenged accepted notions of art with her avant-garde approach to different materials, aesthetics and references that were shaped by her wide range of interests. The exhibition focuses on Ger\u00f0ur\u02bcs sculptures and sheds light on the artist\u02bcs creativity, avant-garde and experimentalism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The basis of the exhibition are the fifteen hundred works by Ger\u00f0ur in Ger\u00f0arsafn \u2013 K\u00f3pavogur Art Museum’s collection. Ger\u00f0arsafn is the only museum in Iceland founded in honour of a female artist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
