Brynja Sveinsd\u00f3ttir, curator of Fora, and R\u00f3sa G\u00edslad\u00f3ttir are going to guide visitors through the exhibition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
When entering R\u00f3sa G\u00edslad\u00f3ttir’s exhibition, you feel as you are in an ancient meeting place and in the ruins of the future. Calmness. The weight of the works grounds you. Or is it threatening? Pillars like these stand for thousands of years, until they no longer do. Will youwitness the moment when they fall? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
R\u00f3sa’s work is an exploration of geometry and classical form with references to architecture and Russian Constructivism. Her sculptures play on the border of the classic and the modern in aesthetics and use of materials. Works in wood, plaster, ceramics and glass create an interaction with their environment, whether it is a local work in the urban landscape or sculptures that disappear around the exhibition space. R\u00f3sa G\u00edslad\u00f3ttir (b. 1957) studied art in Germany, Great Britain and Iceland. Her work has been exhibited in many places in Iceland and abroad, including Scandinavia House in New York, Saatchi Gallery in London, Reykjav\u00edk Art Museum, Hafnarborg, \u00c1rnesing Art Museum and Berg Contemporary. She was the first holder of the Ger\u00f0arsafn annual artist award in 2020, which is awarded annually to an outstanding visual artist who works with sculpture and spatial works.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
