Her work uniquely combines inspiration drawn from Icelandic architectural heritage with international currents of the mid\u201120th century. H\u00f6gna studied architecture in Paris and spent most of her professional career working in France, where she designed the majority of her buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of the small number of building H\u00f6gna designed in Iceland, four are located in K\u00f3pavogur, built between 1961 and 1991. These buildings will be examined in detail in the lecture, with particular emphasis on the architect\u2019s conceptual framework, form, materiality, and the relationship of the works to their site and historical context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guja D\u00f6gg Hauksd\u00f3ttir studied architecture (cand.arch.) at the Aarhus School of Architecture in Denmark. After completing her studies, she worked in Aarhus, and since returning to Iceland has primarily engaged with architecture through interdisciplinary research and mediation in various forms ranging from media production and lectures to writing and teaching. Guja D\u00f6gg is an Assistant Professor and Academic Director at the Department of Architecture at the Iceland University of the Arts.
