Your Rights. Your Voice. Your Community.
For Women of Foreign Origin in Kópavogur
Free event | Open to all women of foreign origin living in Kópavogur
Women of foreign origin make up an important and vibrant part of Kópavogur’s community. At the same time, many face barriers such as language challenges, limited access to information, social isolation, and uncertainty when navigating public services.
“Jafnt aðgengi” (“Equal Access”) is a new project by W.O.M.E.N. in Iceland, created by women for women, to strengthen knowledge, participation, and equality among women living in Kópavogur.
This first event focuses on rights, local services, equality, and safety.
You will learn about:
- Your rights as a woman living in Iceland
- Services available in Kópavogur
- Where to find support
- Violence prevention and safety resources
- How to access help early and confidently
The session includes a short presentation and an open conversation where women can ask questions, share experiences, and connect with others in a supportive environment. The main event language will be English, but we will do our best to have whisper translators present for certain languages.*
Our goal:
To empower women of foreign origin with knowledge, confidence, and community — strengthening equality, participation, and access to information in line with SDG 5, SDG 10, and SDG 16.
All women are welcome. No registration needed.
Light refreshments provided.
*Available translation offerings will be announced closer to the date once volunteer availability is confirmed.
