Radio workshop: What are you Passionate About?

Gerðarsafn Art Museum

ou are warmly welcome to the workshop What are you passionate about? In Gerðarsafn the 30th of may at 13:00 – 15:00. The workshop is held in connection to the exhibition National happiness by Jeremy Deller, teenagers and young people are especially welcome!📻📣

In the workshop What Are You Passionate About?, participants choose a work from Jeremy Deller’s exhibition that speak especially to them and create a response to it. We approach the artworks from our own perspectives, interpret them in personal ways, and place particular emphasis on responding to the work, with a focus on the radio medium as a form of communication.

Participants are given the opportunity to develop their own voice – for example, by writing a column, critique, or review; conducting an imagined interview with the artwork or the artist, or creating a playlist as a response to a work. The radio format is placed at the forefront as a creative platform for telling stories, asking questions, and communicating ideas.

Ásrún Magnúsdóttir is a choreographer that is interested in amplifying voices that she feels might be heard better; giving the stage to other people space to speak up, be seen and listened to. She has a great deal of experience working with different social groups, especially young people, teenagers and children but also micro-communities like her own neighbours, residents of particular neighbourhoods or people that share an apartment building.

Admission is free and all are welcome
