Behind the glass are Karl, the nervous husband of Katrín who is burned out to the core, together with the electrician Kjartan. There, they wait for their chance to get out and are in constant contact with the boxer Kara. Kara is at war with the shadow itself, the creature beyond.
Hver ertu, helvítið þitt? is an acted performance. It allows the viewer to see with their own eyes what happens when the beast within us materializes in the outer worlds. The work deals with a familiar theme that is well explored in dynamic psychology. The content and aesthetics of the work speak to two systems, the conscious and the unconscious, and adresses the question of good and evil.
In her art Ingibjörg Magnadóttir mainly works with performance and has developed theatre-related works, which combine the fields of performance, traditional and experimental theatre. She writes the scripts of her works herself, either alone or in collaboration with other artists, and emphasizes that the show is a complete work, where the scenery, costumes, text, movements, sound play an equal part in creating the experience.
