Gudrita Lape graduated from the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2012 and recently completed her studies in textiles and technology at Fabricademy – Fab Lab textile academy in Barcelona where, among other things, coding, smart textiles, and design of natural materials (biochromes, biocomposites, biomaterials, grown materials) were taught and inspired Solidus Liquidus.
The Icelandic-Lithuanian artist has been living between Spain and Iceland since 2020, and the exhibition will show a fragment of this world. Food scraps, Icelandic and foreign flora will be combined and transformed through cultivation, fermentation, and drying into a three-dimensional installation of interactive flexible and semi-flexible materials. The project visitors a glimpse into this living world that is still relatively unknown in Iceland.
